DHL are planning to build a new cargo terminal in Lithuania

Today the Minister of Transport and Communications Eligijus Masiulis met with international courier service DHL representatives. DHL would like to build cargo terminal in airport of Vilnius.

Ministry of Transport and Communications welcomes DHL investments in Lithuania. It was proposed to DHL to evaluate several options: to build terminal in Vilnius Airport or Kaunas Airport which is in center of Lithuania and in very convenient place for logistics. Kaunas Airport is located near free economic zone and highway.

 

DHL has also been offered to cooperate with Post office of Lithuania which has premises close to Vilnius Airport and is also planning to build logistics center in Kaunas.

 

“It would be hard for DHL to develop in Vilnius Airport because Vilnius city municipality did not yet approve the detailed plan of the airport and this process may take some time. We are ready to cooperate with municipality to approve detailed plan as soon as possible”, - Minister of Transportand CommunicationsEligijus Masiulis said.

DHL is ready to invest about 10 million litas in Lithuania. Company has currently created about 150 jobs in our country.
