Almost 916 million LTL for the maintenance, construction and modernisation of Lithuanian roads

This year, the sum of 915.9 million LTL will be allocated from the State budget for the development of road network and implementation of traffic safety measures. Together with EU support funding, which will make 270 million LTL, the total sum of investment to the national roads will reach almost 1.2 billion LTL.

“Investments of this year will remain on the same level as in 2011. However the priorities of their addressing will be slightly different. Considering a comparatively good condition of the main national roads, the prime attention in 2012 will be paid to regional roads going via minor towns and settlements”, said Eligijus Masiulis, Minister of Transport and Communications.
 
In regard to traffic safety this year’s funding of pedestrian and bicycle paths will grow more than twice. Furthermore, almost 31.5 million LTL will be allocated to the implementation of various road traffic safety programmes and education activities.
