Lithuania and Georgia to cooperate more closely in the field of transport

Lithuanian Minister of Transport and Communications, Eligijus Masiulis, and Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Vera Kobalia, had a meeting in Vilnius and discussed cooperation issues of both countries in the field of transport. Also Memoranda of Understanding have been signed between the following seaports of the two countries – between Klaipėda Seaport and Poti Seaport, and between Klaipėda Seaport and Batumi Seaport.

Lithuania and Georgia to cooperate more closely in the field of transport
Lithuania and Georgia intend to cooperate in the promotion of freight transportation between the two countries, implementation of advanced technologies in transport, delivery of favorable conditions to the intermodal carriage of goods.
 
The Ministers agreed that both countries will exchange experience in the implementation of transport strategy and policy in the road, railway, air and water transport sectors. They also agreed on exchanging information, implementation of joint projects, organization of experts’ visits and training in the field of transport development, management and marketing, as well as on participation in the international scientific research programmes.  
 
Ports of Lithuania and Georgia will cooperate in maritime transport and port infrastructure development. The seaports of both countries confirmed their readiness for cooperation and exchange of experience in the improvement of services provided to passengers, development of maritime transport and port management systems, carriage of freight of various types.
