Traffic information centre has been opened for drivers

On October 20, a National traffic information centre has been opened in Lithuania for the attention of drivers. The centre will provide for drivers operative information on traffic conditions of the roads of national importance.

Drivers will be able to find all the necessary information on the website: www.eismoinfo.lt, available at the Standard Internet browsers or I Pads.
 
“The opened Traffic information centre and real time information on traffic conditions on the roads is an important step in the process of implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems”, said Minister Eligijus Masiulis at the opening of the new centre at Lithuanian Road Administration.
 
Visitors at the Internet website www.eismoinfo.lt will find much information for travel planning. There will be provided information on weather forecast, road surface conditions, road maintenance state and suitable bypasses, speed limitations depending on natural conditions, dangerous obstacles and traffic disorders.
 
The traffic data will be displayed on the interactive map, which will visually reflect real situation on the roads. Soon the information will be supplemented by the data on traffic accidents, and news for truck drivers and cyclists. 
 
It is planned that in the nearest future the information on the Internet will be published not only in the Lithuanian language, but also in English, Latvian, Russian and Polish. Traffic information centre services will be constantly improved and developed for the convenience of users.
 
Traffic information centre establishment was financed by the European Union. Total value of the project reaches approximately 20 million LTL.
