Road transport
Issue of the licences to carry out passengers and goods is regulated by „Republic of Lithuania Road Transport Code 19 November 1996 No. I-1628 (As amended by 19 March 2002 No. IX-790) and „The Rules for licensing road transport activities“ adopted by Government of the Republic of Lithuania 7 December 2011 by resolution No. 1434 „On the Rules for licensing road transport activities “.
A licence to engage in passenger carriage on long-distance routes and in international carriage of passengers and carriage of goods by road shall be issued by the State Road Transport Inspectorate under the Ministry of Transport and Communications. A licence to engage in local carriage of passengers and carriage by taxi cars shall be issued by the municipal institutions or the institutions authorised by them.
